Roxy Louw: two million men vote surfer girl the sexiest woman in the world

2010-05-24 00:00

BLONDE surfer girl Roxy Louw has been voted number one by SA men in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll.

The 22-year-old, who divides her time between Cape Town and Durban, said she was completely overwhelmed by being voted into the top spot.

“It’s such an honour to actually be considered so highly,” she said. “Sherbet!” she laughed as the realisation that a record breaking two million votes were cast for her, set in.

Louw was enjoying a visit to the Durban Archery Club when she got the news. “I was overwhelmed and totally surprised. The worst thing was that I wasn’t able to tell anyone. So I kept it in and just sat there smiling.”

It was made public at a glitzy soiree in Johannesburg over the weekend.

Louw has made headlines for more than her beautiful face and perfect body; in 2007 she saved British tourists from their sinking charter boat in Cape Town.

She said she was on the balcony at her family’s home when she saw the boat in trouble. She ran indoors, pulled on her wetsuit and swam out to assist the NSRI, which she had called.

FHM editor Hagen Engler said he was thrilled Louw was voted number one.

“She’s a career surfer, daughter of rugby Springbok legend Rob Louw, and a card-carrying saver of lives. She’s made headlines for so much more than just being beautiful, …what’s not to love?”
