Royal Show: New training franchise opens

2008-05-28 00:00

A lifelong passion for training and education has finally led city businessman Mike Mkhwanazi to establish a new training business, under the Edge Training franchise brand.

The recently-established business, Edge Training Pietermaritzburg, has a stand that is based at hall two at the Royal Show 2008.

The hall showcases a host of small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs), under the auspices of the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business (PCB) and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Finance and Economic Development.

Mkhwanazi, who was recently nominated for the “Emergent Black Businessperson of the

Year” award at the 2007 Nedbank PCB Business Awards, is involved in restaurant and catering businesses, as well as the corporate clothing sector.

Moses Dicken of Edge Training told The Witness that they have already benefited from having a stand at the show.

He said that apart from fielding numerous inquiries, they have already generated business at the show.

Interested stakeholders include teachers (Edge offers a leadership programme geared toward school pupils), business owners and managers, as well as certain government department representatives.

Edge Training offers training options related to a variety of areas, including stress management, customer service, leadership, development, communication, project management, management development, time management, conflict management, team-building, equity and diversity and successful selling.
