Royal show: New radio station joins line-up, uKhozi FM now later

2009-05-14 00:00

THE Royal Agricultural Society has announced that this year they will not be hosting the Ukhozi FM concert on the last day of the Royal Show.

The concert has been run concurrently with the show for the past 14 years, but this year it will be hosted one week after the show’s conclusion at the Royal Showgrounds on Sunday, June 7.

Terry Strachan, Royal Agricultural Society general manager, said that this was to give the organisers of the concert a dedicated venue free from the constraints of an exhibition, while also enabling them to use the technical infrastructure in place for the show.

Strachan said in the absence of the Ukhozi FM there will be another concert hosted by Radio Sonder Grense.

He said popular radio DJ and TV host Derrich Gardner will be the emcee.

Strachan said the concert promises to be fun-filled entertainment for everyone with well-known performers.

“Among the top performers will be Chris Chameleon, The Campbells, Nadine and Lee Vaughn,” said Strachan.
