S. Korean delegation in KZN to explore investments

2008-04-22 00:00

UMSHWATHI Municipality will today host a South Korean business delegation that has an interest in the furniture manufacturing industry in New Hanover.

The hosting of the Asian delegation is part of the council’s drive to alleviate poverty in the area. This will culminate in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the municipality and the South Korean business delegation.

The South Koreans will also visit timber plantations and industrial factories that manufacture timber products in a quest to forge business deals with uMshwathi businesses.

The delegation is expected to receive a mayoral reception this evening, with KZN Premier S’bu Ndebele expected to speak. UMshwathi mayor Marshall Gwala said this mission represents an excellent opportunity to display the region to companies from the rapidly expanding South Korean market.

“We are seeing increased investment from the country and missions like these present an opportunity to sell uMshwathi Municipality abroad,” said Gwala.
