SA U18 sevens: KZN ninth

THE national U18 sevens rugby tournament was held in the holidays, with 16 provincial sides participating and the teams divided into four pools.

KZN’s first match was against SWD, the eventual runners-up, where they lost 24-26. Against EP in the second game they were beaten 26-14 and they then won 10-0 in the last pool game against Border. This placed them third in their pool.

In the bowl quarter-final, KZN beat the Griffons 54-5, and beat Limpopo 24-12 in the semi-final. The final was against Leopards, which KZN won 40-12 to take the bowl and be placed ninth in the tournament.

The plate was won by the Pumas, who surprisingly beat Free State 28-19. The cup was won by the Valke who beat SWD 21-17 in the final. The player of the tournament was Dewald Human, an SA schools flyhalf from SWD.
