SA U19 lose by 201 runs to India

2013-10-08 00:00

IT WAS a disappointing final for the South African U19 side in India when they went down against hosts India by a massive 201 runs on Saturday. This was after South Africa had asked India to bat first.

India ended on 267 for seven. Justin Dill (Paul Roos) was the best of the SA bowlers, taking three wickets.

It was a task that was within the reach of the batsmen, but a disciplined bowling performance by the Indians and some impatience by some of the batsmen saw SA stumble and fall, to be all out for a paltry 66 in 28 overs.

They lost three wickets on 13 and were not able to recover. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as the batsmen failed to compile partnerships through the innings. Only two players, Jason Smith (Wynberg) and Yaseen Valli (KES), were able to get past double digits.

In the other match for third place, Australia had a comfortable win over Zimbabwe.
