SA model a Playboy hit

2010-04-03 00:00

PLAYBOY boss Hugh Hefner is so impressed with his April cover girl, South African-born beauty Candice Boucher, that he even used the social networking site Twitter to tell readers of the magazine to catch the nude pictorial of the Guess model.

Durban-born Boucher’s sultry series, titled Undressed in Africa, was photographed by Raphael Mazzucco in Kenya. It includes a cover shot of the model wearing an unbuttoned shirt and jeans and an eight-page nude pictorial inside, complete with lions and other wildlife in the background.

According to heat magazine, which published some of the risque pictures this week, Boucher found the shoot rather nerve-racking.

Playboy publicist Abi O’Donnell told the magazine: “They had to park Land Rovers around her and reverse out of the way when they were ready to shoot. When the lions started moving they had to quickly pack up and get out of there.”

Boucher has become a sought-after model since being chosen as one of the faces of Guess Jeans last year. She has also appeared on the pages of FHM, Cosmopolitan, Sports Illustrated and Elle.

Commenting on the shoot to heat, she said: “I never in my life thought I’d be a model, never mind a model posing for Playboy, but I’m excited about this opportunity.”

Boucher joins a long list of women, including Marilyn Monroe, Pamela Anderson, Drew Barrymore, Denise Richards and Cindy Crawford, who have appeared in the magazine.

The April issue of Playboy goes on sale in the U.S. around mid-month. Additional photos from the shoot can be viewed at
