SPCA: 37 dogs held after bangs

2009-10-20 00:00

THE Pietermaritzburg SPCA yesterday appealed to dog owners to look for their missing dogs at the Woodhouse Road premises.

Senior Inspector Jeanette Salzwedel said they had collected 37 animals in their stray block up until yesterday at lunchtime.

“Besides these 37, we have had queries from dog owners about another 26 that are still missing.”

Salzwedel said that Saturday night was one of the worst ever in terms of loud bangs.

“There was some new extra-loud firework this year. They were really very, very loud,” said Salzwedel.

She thanked the volunteers who had come to the SPCA offices at the weekend to help with the handling of terrified strays.
