Safe City: ‘Don’t get involved in street gambling’

2009-03-24 00:00

Don’t get involved in street gambling, as you could end up the victim of pickpockets.

That’s the warning from Lucas Holtzhausen, general manager for Safe City.

Holtzhausen yesterday warned people not to get involved in any street gambling activities after Safe City cameras observed that a number of pedestrians who stopped to play had their pockets picked by the gamblers’ accomplices, who use the distraction to steal from participants or onlookers.

Holtzhausen urged the public to make use of the sms system to report information of possible crime activities in their areas.

Send an sms to 083 767 SAFE (083 767 7233), but in case of an emergency, dial 10111.
