Samas: Durban’s top ‘idol’ wins R&B/Soul award

2013-05-11 00:00

Durban’s Idols winner, Khaya Mthethwa (26), received an SA Music Award (Sama) last night for his debut album for you.

Since winning Idols last year, Mthethwa has been on a winning streak. Shortly after his choir won the Clash of The Choirs reality show, he has won the best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album award. He was in the same category as Kabomo (Memory Remains), Lulu Dikana (This is the Life), The Muffinz (Have you Heard?) and Zaki Ibrahim (Every Opposite). The 19th Samas were held at Sun City last night.

Khaya posted on his Facebook page: “Guys I just won R&B/soul and reggae!! All glory belongs to God!! First sama of my life!”
