‘Scandal!’ casting for KZN actors to be part of Kila’s family

SCANDAL ! fans take note – e.tv is looking for actors to join the popular soapie, and the channel bosses will be in Durban this weekend to audition for characters to perform with Siyabonga Shibe (Kila).

Successful actors and actresses will become part of Shibe’s on-screen family.

Says Monde Twala, e.tv’s channel head: “With approximately two million viewers Scandal! is one of the most successful local productions, and e.tv is offering the people of KZN an opportunity to be part of this show and bring a sense of authenticity to a character from their homeland.”

Stan Joseph of Ochre Moving Pictures added: “We felt that the province had an abundance of raw talent that is waiting to be discovered.

“Our casting audition process will uncover the unpolished potential stars of tomorrow and offer them a platform to act alongside the best in the South African soapie industry.”

A panel of four judges will be at Durban’s City Hall today and tomorrow to conduct auditions for the new characters, who will be part of Kila’s family and bring some exciting twists into his life.

Auditions will be held from 9 am to 5 pm on both days and will be on a first come, first served basis, ending at 5 pm. Actresses aged between 22 and 28 will be seen today and actors aged from 18 to 25 tomorrow.

To audition you must be able to speak Zulu as your first language; speak and read English with ease; be able to relocate to Johannesburg at your own cost if you get the part; and be a resident of South African and show proof with a South African identity document.

Actors also need to prepare a one-minute performance comprising a 30-second introduction of themselves and a 30-second scene acted out of their favourite movie or soapie.

The judges will shortlist 20 young talents who will go through to the audition phase. The results will be made public at the end of March.
