School kids get to play the Proteas in KFC mini cricket

2014-10-24 00:00

KFC Mini-Cricket is giving three schools a unique opportunity to play against the world’s best in the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas Tour competition.

School mini-cricket coaches Yvonne Kotse, Eldre Benadie and parent Tracey Johnson, along with their mini-cricket teams, will be making their big cricketing debut against their cricketing heroes in a curtain-raiser to the T20 International games against the West Indies in January next year.

The winning teams are Laerskool Louw Geldenhuys from Johannesburg, Durban-based Eden College, and St Andrew’s Primary School from Saldanha Bay.

The teams and their coaches have been paired with legendary former Proteas players, who will act as assistant coaches to give them a competitive edge leading up to their match.

The assistant coaches will help the teams prepare for their tour games with exclusive coaching sessions at the schools, while the teams will also play warm-up matches at the Ram Slam T20 Challenge.

The Durban coaching session with Mfuneko Ngam is set to take place on November 4.
