School’s cricket action now turns to the interprovincial tournaments

2011-11-29 00:00

WITH the wet weather experienced last week, the Sunfoil School challenge finals could not take place. They did manage to have a bowl-out between both the primary and the high school finalists. Pelham beat St Charles prep 3-2 and Weston beat Howick High 3-1. While this closes the tournament it was an unsatisfactory ending.

School’s cricket action now turns to the interprovincial tournaments in the various age groups. Preparations for the weeks are important as the sides of players from various schools have to be moulded into a team.

The Inland U19 played a three-day game against Free State last weekend. Most of the players selected to go to the Coca-Cola Grant Khomo week in Cape Town from December 15 to December 20 were involved. Some, however, did miss the game as they had an exam to write on Friday or Monday, but the team of 13 players will be involved in a training camp from December 5 to December 7. They will then have a game against the Kingsmead Mynahs on December 8 and a match on December 9 against the KZN Inland Senior team, both at the Oval.

Both the U17 and U15 teams will also be involved at the training camp from December 5 to December 7. The U17s then play a two-day game against the Kingsmead Mynahs at Eston on December 3 and December 4. They will leave for Bloemfontein on December 9.

The U15s will not be involved in a match before they leave on December 12 for Benoni.

The Inland U13 have had practices and will have their last on December 4 before leaving on December 10 for East London.
