Scottburgh: All waves lead to South Coast Surf Carnival

2011-11-22 00:00

COMPETITORS are heading to Scottburgh for the ninth edition of the Jeep Apparel South Coast Surf Carnival on Saturday and Sunday.

With surfers from various disciplines logged in, it is up to the ocean to deliver.

Scottburgh’s waters are renowned for never dishing up the same wave, which adds to the thrill of the event.

The longboarding and SUP (stand up paddle) surfing will take place at the Main Beach, the kite surfers will be in front of the Cutty Sark Hotel and the wave-ski surfers will be utilising Back Beach, which is behind Wimpy.

There will also be a free surfing clinic on the day hosted by Mad Dog Surf School’s Shaun Selman and his trained staff.

Representatives from Sustainable Seas Trust (SST) will be on hand collecting pledges from people, business and institutions who intend increasing their efforts at preserving marine environments.

Pre-registration takes place at Phatboyz Restaurant on Friday from 6 pm.
