Scottish deal sees Bresler join list of players leaving Sharks

JOHANNESBURG — Another name has been added to the list of players leaving the Sharks, with Anton Bresler bagging a three-year contract for Edinburgh in Scotland. The 26-year-old will leave after the Super Rugby series.

His new coach, Alan Solomons, has previously coached the Stormers and the Southern Kings.

While he is on the list of players leaving, Bresler is at least off the injury list for Saturday, when he will make a welcome return to the field for the Sharks against the Cheetahs.

Born in Namibia, Bresler has played 39 Super Rugby and 28 Currie Cup matches.

His loss leaves the Sharks very thin on the ground as far as locks go.

Brad MacLeod-Henderson, who will take over the coaching of the Sharks team from Jake White during the Currie Cup series, will have to rely on the young players in the Sharks Academy to stop the gaps left by players who have decided to leverage the weak rand against stronger currencies in the UK, France and Japan.

Sharks players who will not be available for the Currie Cup:

• Loose forwards Keegan Daniel, Jean Deysel and Ryan Kankowski.

• Locks Alan Dell, Peet Marais and Edwin Hewitt.

• Scrumhalves Charl McLeod and JP Pietersen.

• Fullback/wing Sean Robinson.
