Search for Chaka still in full swing

A CASH reward for missing cop dog Chaka has risen to R8 000, as community and business leaders rally to find the missing K-9.

The search for the dog entered its fifth day yesterday after the Rottweiler went missing while chasing robbery suspects. While teams of volunteers scoured the hillside and bush where Chaka was last seen, low cloud cover prevented an aerial search.

Chaka’s handler Constable Elliot Madadane, as well as the dog’s previous owner Tristan Quibell (12), have rallied together for the search.

Shongweni Dog Unit Commander Neil Thaver said, “This is really amazing that the community has come together to assist us. All the neighbourhood watch organisations from across the Highway area have joined hands …

“We are hopeful that we will find Chaka and we have been searching non-stop for him. I am confident that if he is out there we will find him.”
