THE best food the Midlands has to offer and great kitchen tools, plus lots of prizes, make the Liberty Midlands Mall Food Festival 2014 a must this weekend.

Weekend Witness food columnist Jackie Cameron, an award-winning chef who has just left Hartford House, will be at the mall from 2 pm today sharing her creative take on food.

Shaun Dampies of Granny Mouse Country House will showcase the style of cooking that won him the Taste of Durban chef cook-off at 11 am and 4 pm today, and at 11 am, 2 pm and 4 pm tomorrow.

Prizes are sponsored by the Homelife store, Snappy Chef and Granny Mouse, with spot prizes from The Witness and Nando’s.

Centre manager Umi Khan says: “Our exhibitors have catered for every palate with displays of everything from spices, special puddings, ice creams, nuts and much more!”

In addition to the range of deli exhibitors, visitors will also find kitchen accessories ranging from choppers, knife sharpeners, bakeware, cookbooks and other kitchen gadgets.
