Sharks Club XV take on Griffons

2014-09-19 00:00

KZN club rugby seems to be in good hands as the Sharks Club XV are through to the final of the Central Amateur Provincial Championship today.

The Sharks Club XV will meet the Griffons after both sides excelled in the opening two rounds of the competition in Margate this week.

The Sharks side is made up of players from sides in the Premier division of KZN club rugby.

The KZN side were particularly impressive in their first match where they beat Griquas Rural XV 82-12. They followed that up with a hard earned 30-13 win over Free State on Wednesday to progress to the final.

The second match was a tough encounter. The Sharks Club XV only led 13-10 at half time, but managed to score four tries to win convincingly in the end.

The Griffons beat Griquas Central 35-17 to book a date with the Sharks side. They scored five tries in the match and their defence proved too much for their opponents to crack.

There are a number of games on the go today. Griquas Rural will meet the KZN Wildebeest in the plate final. Free State face Griquas Central in the 3rd/4th play-off and the Griffons Rural and Free State Rural will slug it out in the 7th/8th play-off.
