Sharks XV have a good mix of youth, experience for Bulldogs clash

2014-03-07 00:00

DEON Kayser has named the Sharks XV squad to take on the Border Bulldogs in their Vodacom Cup opener in East London tonight.

The team feature a number of Jake White’s players who haven’t seen any action so far in the Super Rugby campaign, such as Fred Zeilinga, Hansie Graaf, Andre Esterhuizen, Tim Swiel, Monde Hadebe and Tera Mtembu who will captain the side.

Coach Kayser said, “Our squad is a good balance between young players with a lot of potential and players who have Super Rugby experience, so all-in-all, a well-balanced squad.

“The experienced players keep the youngsters on track, while the youngsters bring the excitement of youth, the raw talent the raw power, and we have a good blend in our squad.

“Our focus for this game is about getting our own structures and execution of the game plan right; we want to set a standard from the start. The competition will only get tougher and we hopefully peak at the right time,” he said.

Tonight’s game in East London will kick off at 7 pm.
