2011-04-30 00:00

THE Sharks XV, with a number of Super Rugby players in the squad, travel to Cape Town to play a powerful Western Province team in their Vodacom quarter-final match today.

The match kicks off at 4.20 pm and coach Sean Everitt has close to a full squad available.

“Our short-term goal of wanting to make the quarters has been achieved and we’re happy about meeting Western Province,” said coach Sean Everitt.

The team selected for the quarter-final shows a few changes from the last game. Mark Richards returns to the side and Jacques-Louis Potgieter will take over at flyhalf for this match and partner Cobus Reinach, who starts at scrumhalf.

Lambert Groenewald comes in for Jean Deysel at flank while Gerhard Mostert is back from a stint with the Sharks and will partner Anton Bresler in the second row with Craig Burden at hooker.

Western Province have nine players with Super Rugby experience. Wing Danie Poolman, centres Johan Sadie and Paul Bosch, prop JD Moller and as locks Adriaan Fondse and Anton van Zyl have been included in to the Cape team, who will be aiming to maintain their undefeated run in the competition, while Tiaan Liebenberg (hooker), Hilton Lobberts (lock) and Tim Whitehead (centre) are on the bench.
