Singh is 'Kinng' of comedy

SCRIPT writer-turned-director Anees Bazmee has recently given us super-hits like No Entry and Welcome. Bazmee is renowned for his over-the-top comedies and Singh Is Kinng is no different, an absolute no-brain entertainer.

Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar) is a kind-hearted Punjab village bumpkin who has the art of being a master of natural disasters.

The village decides to get rid of him by sending him on a mission to Australia to bring back Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood), the village prodigal son who is now a notorious don.

Accompanied by his best friend Rangeela (Om Puri), a confident Happy embarks on his journey to Australia. En route to Australia Happy crosses paths with Sonia (Katrina Kaif) and is smitten by her. It's a love that remains unreciprocated.

Nevertheless, Happy reaches Australia and befriends a motherly florist (Kiron Kher) who provides him with refuge. Happy is determined to make a success of his mission, which is followed by an expected twist of events, including dethroning Lucky as king and playing matchmaker for Sonia.

Kumar's energetic, charismatic and charming portrayal of the village bumpkin is brilliant, he's sure to bowl you over. Katrina Kaiff is getting better in every film and shares a magic on-screen chemistry with Kumar. Om Puri, Kiron Kher and Sonu Sood all give very dependable performances.

Director Anees Bazmee is a brilliant storyteller. He leaves the audience in stitches with his rib-tickling comedy with its many contrived twists and turns.

This film is a good, hilarious entertainer and must be watched. ***
