Sixteen-year-old kidnapped by gang of seven and raped

2015-01-02 00:00

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl was allegedly kidnapped from outside her home in the CBD by a gang of seven men and raped on Wednesday night.

The girl received a phone call that evening telling her to walk outside her house.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said when she walked out of the door, she was confronted by a car occupied by seven men.

Zwane said the girl was forced into the car and taken to an isolated location next to Alexandra Park where she was raped by one of the seven men as the others watched.

“She was told after the incident occurred that she should not report it to the police and was threatened,” said Zwane.

The girl waited until the men had left and then walked to the police station in Alexandra Road where she reported the incident.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the girl had been badly assaulted and was taken to Edendale Hospital for further treatment.

Zwane said the girl had been severely traumatised from the horrific ordeal, but had no serious life-threatening injuries.

It is unknown at this time whether the girl knew her assailants.

A case of rape and kidnap was opened yesterday at the Alexandra police station and is being investigated.
