2009-12-03 00:00

IF you would like to enjoy an evening of golden oldies from the sixties and seventies, then you can’t afford to miss 60’s & 70’s Golden Oldies at 7 pm on December 11.

The idea for the show — which is being staged at the KwaZulu-Natal Blind and Deaf Society hall on the corner of Newholmes Way and Olympia Way in Pietermaritzburg — came from David Gengan, chairman of KZN Blind & Deaf Society (midlands region), who has brought a host of musicians from the northern areas of the city out of retirement.

Reggie Govender, Colin Ebenezer, Dino Singh, Keith Cader, Mano Pillay, and Edwin George have performed with a host of bands over the years, including The Group Four Five, New Seasons, Rio Tones, Vibrations, Touch and Caballeros.

The show will include a three-course dinner and music made famous by the Beatles, the Bee Gees, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crosby Stills and Nash, Bad Company, Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley, Simon and Garfunkel, The Manhattans, Marmalade, Elton John, Percy Sledge and more.

All proceeds will go to the KZN Blind and Deaf Society, which is responsible for providing a wide range of rehabilitation and other services for blind and deaf people in the midlands region.

Tickets for 60’s & 70’s Golden Oldies are R80 from Anand and Karushka at the Rehabilitation Centre in Newholmes at 033 397 9720, 083 778 8854 and 079 313 2152.
