Sky’s the limit in this meander in the midlands

Westline Aviation is offering sightseeing helicopter tours to various locations throughout the midlands.

Situated at Piggly Wiggly, the new helicopter base lifted off with its first clients yesterday.

Speaking to Weekend Witness, Tim Stephen said the idea of these flights was to create a fresh and exciting attraction on the Midlands Meander.

“There’s nothing quite like the thrill of vertical flight. It is ideal for anyone looking for a truly remarkable experience. We offer a number of helicopter flights that are sure to put their heads in the clouds,” Stephen said.

On offer are 10- to 12-minute flights to the majestic Karkloof Falls for R500 per person or a two-in-one flight package that lets customers experience both the Karkloof and the Howick Falls, along with a flight through the valleys in between.

Also available is a “champagne stopover” for R890. This 15- to 20-minute ride will go over the Dargle Valley.

Customers will enjoy a view of Inhlanzane Peak at 1 981 metres while sipping a glass of bubbly, with an added 10-minute stopover. A round trip that includes all three routes costs R1 500 per person.

Stephen said Westline Aviation offers other packages, such as a private charter to any destination of the passenger’s choice, airport transfers and rides to game reserves and the Drakensberg. Flights will be available all year round, depending on the weather and the discretion of the pilot.

The helicopter can take as many as four passengers at a time.
