Snatched: Laptop stolen in CBD

2010-10-21 00:00

A WOMAN had her laptop stolen in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.

The 54-year-old woman got out of her car in Pietermaritz Street holding the laptop. When she turned to lock the car she felt something bumping against her.

In the next instant her computer had been snatched.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joey Jeevan, the incident happened so fast that the woman was unable to see the thief’s face.

To avoid opportunistic crimes, Jeevan advised people to lock their vehicle doors and windows when parking their cars, making sure that valuables are kept out of sight.

She also advised motorists to park in locations that are well lit and well populated, not surrounded by bushes or buildings where offenders might hide.
