Solid season for Saints’ girls

2013-10-08 00:00

REFLECTING on their soccer season, the girls of St Mary’s DSG in Kloof can hang up their boots for another year with pride.

Those knocks on the ankles and scrapes on the knees have been well worthwhile as the school finished with an overall win percentage of 87%, with only four losses throughout the season.

The Saints first team marched through the season undefeated, their winning streak broken by a solitary draw.

At the Kloof tournament, the U14 A team reached the semi-finals and the U17 players qualified for the provincial final of the Top Schools tournament set for October 12 and 13. If Saints win this, they qualify for the national event in Bloemfontein in the December holidays.

District and provincial representation saw one KZN representative and six district selections.

The girls in blue and white muscled up this season on the soccer field and their results should be an inspiration for soccer in general at the school and encourage participation in the sport.
