Son of murdered woman found hanged

The son of Mathula Ndlovu (55), the Msunduzi municipal employee who was stabbed to death on Monday as she left home for work, has been found dead, in an apparent suicide.

Police said yesterday that Sandile Bonginkosi Ndlovu (24) was found hanging from a tree in Thornville, about two kilometres from his house in the Mpumelelo area, by a group of herdboys.

They immediately contacted the police.

Mathula Ndlovu was stabbed in the neck and chest.

Police said she was leaving home to go to work, in her official municipal vehicle, when a man — believed to be her son Sandile — approached her. The two argued and a short while later her 17-year-old son found his injured mother on the passenger seat and Sandile attempting to start the vehicle.

The brothers allegedly grappled and Sandile ran from the scene.

Ndlovu was rushed to hospital, where she later died.
