Sorisha holds tea to launch charity

2014-11-27 00:00

WELL-HEELED women braved Durban’s windy weather to attend socialite Sorisha Naidoo’s high tea event to raise funds for a good cause yesterday.

Despite the gloomy weather, Naidoo’s garden was transformed into a warm place where guests mingled, while sipping on a cup of tea or glass of champagne.

Fascinators were the headgear of choice as 120 women gathered to support the launch of the Durban branch of God’s Warehouse, a charity that feeds women and children. The non-profit organisation, which opened its doors in 2010, operates in Pietermaritzburg and Durban. It was founded by Pietermaritzburg resident Debbie Schroeder.

Wearing a Haroun Hansrot dress and a fascinator, Naidoo said: “God’s Warehouse has a special place in my heart”.

Schroeder said women from all over KwaZulu-Natal came to support the charity. “There are people from Richards Bay, Port Shepstone and Johannesburg, it’s really great,” said Schroeder. A total of R30 000 was raised for the charity.
