Spoonfeedas’ Guthrie to open Currie Cup final

2010-10-27 00:00

HILLCREST singer and frontman for the rock band Spoonfeedas, Peter Guthrie, will be singing the national anthem at the Currie Cup final in Durban on Saturday.

Guthrie told the Witness that he was approached by South Africa’s rugby bosses and asked if he would consider performing at the Absa Stadium if the Sharks made it past the Blue Bulls in their semi-final clash. The Sharks won 16-12 and now face Western Province in the final.

On Monday Guthrie received final confirmation that he would sing the anthem.

Spoonfeedas have also recorded a new song for the Sharks. Titled Fear!, the track can be downloaded free for a limited time from www.sharksrugby.co.za and www.spoonfeedas.com

Fans who download the track before October 30 stand a chance of winning a private rock concert by theband, and a Sharks jersey signed by a player of their choice.
