Spring bonus: Over 30 lovely gardens open to the public

2011-09-30 00:00

IT’S the annual Witness Open Garden season, and throughout the Midlands over 30 beautiful gardens have opened their gates to the public to enjoy the spring.

From Pietermaritzburg to Underberg, gardens will be open throughout October, and on the not-to-be-missed list is the beautiful, 30 hectare Benvie Garden in the Karkloof.

Equally beautiful are the rose gardens of Mike and Gill Wilson and Dawn Pellew in central Pietermaritzburg.

Another stunningly beautiful garden is that of Rose and Revell Sivright in Rosetta. This garden features a range of spectacular trees as well as a brand-new tea garden. Their garden, Glengarry, is at GPS co-ordinates 29.19.22s and 29.43.04e and the tea garden, Maple Gardens, has a range of specialist coffees and freshly baked goodies.

Get your copy of the Witness Open Garden Guide at garden shops in the city.

You also have the chance to win fabulous prizes in the annual Berry’s Mowers and Pools competition.

To stand a chance of being a winner, get your competition form in today’s Witness, or call in at their shop at 3 Peter Kerchhoff Street, complete the coupon and drop it into one of their competition boxes. You can also enter the competition at their garden show stand. Make sure you enter to stand a chance of being a winner!
