Sprint Race Day: Sun Goddess meets Earth Warrior

2010-05-04 00:00

THE Golden Horse Casino Sprint Race Day at Gold Circle’s Scottsville racecourse in Pietermaritzburg on May 29, 2010, will once again stage thoroughbred racing and fashion on the same day. This year’s fashion theme is inspired by the earthly elements.

“With global warming at the forefront of so many people’s attention and weather patterns causing havoc with our world, let’s get in touch with our earth and start sewing these elements into our own unique fashion statements,” say the organisers.

“Combine the reds, oranges and earthy tones of sunshine, with cool African cottons and robust shwe-shwe prints.

“Embellished creations that lend themselves to strong individual interpretation, Sun Goddess meets Earth Warrior!

“Blend your frosty colours — blues, shimmering silvers and crisp whites — with the soft touch of fur, velvet, sequins and snowy lace effects.

“Fold your arctic crushed silks into a flowing rainfall of fabrics that touch the earth as you move. Drape your body in wispy wind-like chiffons that move with you.

“All the earthly elements leave a lasting memory of feverish fashion.

“Nature never goes out of style!”

The categories include Avant-Garde, Best Dressed Person, Most Glamorous couple, Best Young Designer, Best Head Gear and Best Hair Style.

There is no entry fee. Brilliant prizes are on offer.

Date: Saturday, May 29, 2010.

Time: 9.45 am. Preliminary judging takes place at Scottsville racecourse.
