Squash: Varsity topple Lynwoodin day of upsets

FOURTH-PLACED Varsity caused a major upset in the latest round of the Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic men’s first- league squash by beating log-leaders Lynwood convincingly 9-3. In another upset, second-placed Collegians were beaten 9-8 by third-placed Country Club. Fifth-placed Golf Club won 10-6 against Eston, Protea had a fine 9-7 win over Michaelhouse II and Michaelhouse I beat Howick 11-7.

The women’s first league ended last week and once again Epworth are the Champions. Epworth have had a remarkable year, remaining unbeaten the whole league. Runners-up Country Club finished in fine style, beating Lynwood I 9-4 and Lynwood II had an impressive 9-7 win over Varsity.
