St Nicholas: Head, teacher resign

2012-04-23 00:00

THE St Nicholas Diocesan School’s principal, Mike Ford, and his daughter, Whitney, who taught history at the school, have resigned with immediate effect.

When The Witness asked about reasons behind the sudden resignations, the school said it did not wish to comment at this stage.

A letter posted on the school’s website reads: “Mr Ford resigned for personal reasons to address a family crisis.” The school declined to divulge more details.

“We are happy to report that the running of the school will be in the capable hands of the acting head of the high school, Anton Immelman, and Kamal Rugbar, the acting head of the primary school, until such time as the appointment of a new principal,” said the chairperson of the school’s council, Pixie van Heerden.

She said the history post had been filled by a highly experienced teacher.

Ford had been head of the school since 2003. — WR.
