POLICE reported that two men were killed in arguments that erupted during festive season celebrations in Pietermaritzburg at the weekend.

Warrant Officer Joey Jeevan said 25-year-old Citha Ximba was embroiled in an argument at a tavern in the Mattison’s area at about 9.30 pm on Friday. Shortly thereafter he went to a tuckshop in the vicinity.

Witnesses reported that soon after he left the tuckshop, Ximba came running back with a stab wound in his chest. He died at the scene.

Police have arrested a suspect. They are still looking for a second assailant.

In another incident Tsepang Mohamed was assaulted by around five men at a tavern in Swapo, Copesville, on Christmas day. He was stabbed to death.

By late yesterday no one had been arrested for the attack, but Jeevan said police know the identities of the attackers.
