Star Search final on Friday

2011-01-05 00:00

THE opportunity to record their very own studio album will provide more than enough incentive for nine singers who will be competing in the finals of the South Coast Star Search competition at RJs Steakhouse at the South Coast Mall this Friday.

Four previous rounds of eliminations have seen the competition reduced to nine participants, who will have to endure further eliminations in Friday’s final.

“It has been a very emotional experience for the contestants so far,” said event organiser Nazreen Ally.

“We have had some very passionate and brilliant artists who have not made it this far, which shows how good these nine contestants are.”

The winner of the competition will be awarded a 60 minute 12-track recording opportunity as well as a contract with South Coast-based company IQ Music.

“The equipment at IQ Music is state of the art and we would like to thank them for this incredible prize,” said Ally.

The public is invited to attend Friday’s final and tickets will not be required.

“The competition will be very tight,” said Ally. “We are at that stage where we are dealing with the very best.”

Ally added it is her aim to host more talent search competitions on the South Coast, a region that she considers to be in need of a strong music industry. “In the past there has been nothing for artists on the South Coast. There are plans to host similar competitions in the future so that we can get the music industry on the South Coast going.”
