Star visits the casino

2008-08-05 00:00

CELEBRATE Women’s Day on Saturday with an evening of Insights and Inspirations at the Golden Horse Casino. The guest for the evening is stage and cabaret star, Andre Hattingh, who will be launching her new CD at the event.

Hattingh was educated at Epworth School in the city and performed as a soloist for the Natal Schools Choir. She later studied drama at the then Natal

University and became a professional actress, starring in musical comedies and also on television. She became a household name hosting SABC TV’s first children’s show Bangalory Time for some years, for which she was required to write and perform a new song live on air each week. In addition to this she hosted her own TV comedy series The Andre Hattingh Show.

Hattingh has also established herself as a designer of ethnic fashion and has her own exclusive studio in Parktown North. A few years ago, she had an operation to remove cancer and had six months of chemotherapy. She has completely recovered and the experience inspired her to write songs which she performs. The CD featuring these songs, Change Your World, will be launched at the Insights and Inspirations event.

The evening begins at 6.30 pm, with the show starting at 7.30 pm. Tickets are R100 and are available from Ingrid at 083 535 7354 (mornings) or Megan at 083 779 1149 (afternoons). There will be a cash bar. For more information, phone Ingrid at 083 535 7354.
