Stock theft: the cows came home

2011-04-04 00:00

TWO cows were returned to their rightful owners after the three thieves who had attempted to steal them were arrested in the Paddock area in the early hours of Friday morning.

At around 1.10 am, a policing unit was patrolling the area when they spotted a white van carrying the two cows on its way towards Oshabeni, coming from Ezinqoleni.

Investigation showed the cows had been reported stolen from a farm near Eden Store, and the suspects (two men and a woman) were arrested for stock theft.

Phumzile Makaula from the Margate SAPF confirmed that one of the suspects had admitted that this was not the first time that they had stolen cows.
