Stolen cable disrupts Willowton power

2010-05-27 00:00

ALTHOUGH the electricity dips that briefly affected the greater Willowton area on Tuesday did not last long, some businesses reported that they were without electricity from 7 am on Tuesday and most of yesterday.

Msunduzi Municipality spokesperson Ntobeko Ngcobo blamed a stolen cable for the fault on an11 Kv line in the area.

The fault affected Panorama Gardens, Burningham Road, Grix Road, Chesterfield Road, Sherfield Road and some of the roads off them.

“Our electricity unit … has been working on the problem since Tuesday and the electricity supply was restored in most areas,” said Ngcobo.

She said the municipality expected that all areas would have their supply restored by close of business yesterday.
