Strikers vow to stay away till Exco is dissolved

POLICE used rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse protesting Msunduzi Municipality workers outside the city hall yesterday morning.

The protest over overtime payments is set to continue until they receive the money they say they are owed — and until those responsible for plunging the municipality into a financial crisis are either arrested, suspended or fired, leaders said.

The workers said they want the municipality’s executive committee dissolved.

A shop steward said they will protest today and on Monday, and march to the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature on Tuesday to demand action.
