THE revamp of Port Shepstone’s beachfront is on track for completion at the end of November.

The new-look beachfront will be ready just in time for the South Coast to embrace its seasonal visitors.

South Coast Tourism’s Hilda Gabriel says the additional week that Gauteng schools are on holiday in January will be highly beneficial for the South Coast.

“Gauteng is our market and the fact that they have a week longer for the December vacation period is highly beneficial to us.”

She said South Coast Tourism is planning loads of exciting entertainmentfor the festive season.

“Some big-name entertainers are scheduled to perform during the Summer Beach Festival.”

South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairperson Ivan Naidoo said the additional week will be good for the economy in the area, which relies on tourism for its main income.

He added that the chamber will be looking at other avenues to attract more visitors to the coast.
