Support acts confirmed for Seether tour

Six top local bands have just been confirmed to support Seether for the band's SA tour. The four-date tour, presented by 5fm in association with Canon, kicks off at Cape Town¹s Grand Arena at Grand West Casino and Entertainment World on June 15, before heading to Johannesburg¹s Standard Bank Arena on June 16, Durban¹s Wave House on June 20 and finally Port Elizabeth¹s UPE Indoor Sports Centre on June 21.

The Sama winning band hit the number one spot on 5fm¹s Top 40 and on the Hi5@5 recently, with the hit 'Rise Above This', the second single off their latest album, 'Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces'. The smash hit is one of the top 20 most played songs on SA radio, and reached number one on the Modern Rock charts in the U.S. The album¹s previous single, 'Fake It', hit the number one spot of 5fm, and spent 34 weeks on the U.S. charts, including eight weeks at number one. Currently on tour in Europe, Seether will be performing at Germany¹s Rock am Ring Festival and the Download Festival in the UK, before arriving in South Africa.

Supporting them on their SA tour are local favourites Stealing Love Jones and 12th Avenue, performing in all cities, A King in Cape Town, Myepic in Jozi, Perez in Durban, and Scarlet Box in Port Elizabeth.

STEALING LOVE JONES is South Africa¹s most promising pop-rock act. Formed in 2005, the band (Esjay Jones on vocals and guitar, Jason Jones on backing vocals and lead guitar, Steve Jones on bass and Andrew Jones on drums). have played all major South African festivals, and have also supported the likes of Stained, Evanescence, 3 Doors Down, Fall Out Boy, Violent Femmes and Jimmy Eat World to name but a few! The first three singles of their Special Edition album, 'Kicks', 'Take This Advice' and 'A Little Easier', all peaked at number one on local radio, and the music videos received nominations by MK89 as 'Sexiest Video'. They have also been playlisted on various American radio stations, and embarked on a US tour earlier this year. Also on the touring itinerary, are the UK, Europe and Japan.

Cape Town four-piece Rock band, 12TH AVENUE is quickly becoming one of the hottest live acts in SA. The band, Mark Haze (vocals/guitar), Bjorn Faree (guitar), Stanley Hill (bass) and Gareth Haze (drums), released their first full-length album, "Insane" earlier this year, with the lead single 'Living in my Life' receiving extensive airtime on 5fm. Their debut EP, 'Crazy', held the No.1 spot on 5FM¹s Hi 5@5 for 6 consecutive weeks, and was also voted 'Album of the Year' by zazone last year.

A KING, is a new English rock outfit consisting of Hunter Kennedy and Jaco Venter from Fokofpolisiekar and newcomers Laudo Liebenberg and Hennie van Halen. The melodic Pop-Rockers pride themselves in sing-along alternative country-inspired songs and Classic Rock anthems. Their lyrics off their debut album, 'Dutch Courage', are tongue-in-cheek and cynical, yet sometimes sentimental, and mixed with an infectious energy. As controversial as Fokofpolisiekar is perceived to be, they have been able to open many doors for Afrikaans rock music, winning numerous awards, and becoming the first Afrikaans band to have tracks playlisted on 5FM.

Described as "world-class rock music that South Africans can truly be proud", MYEPIC have graced the stages of every major festival across the country. Their distinct sound and powerful, energetic performances also landed them a spot at Berlin¹s Popkomm, during their 2006 tour of Germany. Myepic¹s perfect blend of intense, hard rock and melodic pop/rock, has seen them deliver truly great songs, evident on their 2006 debut album 'The Love Industry', and this year¹s follow up 'Happiness Hurts'.

PEREZ exploded on the scene in 2001 with no warning. Within 18 months of their debut show at Splashy Fen, they managed to clock up four No.1 singles and sell out just about every live venue in South Africa, still holding attendance records at some of them. Perez (Nic Olsen on guitar and vocals, Matt Wilkenson on guitar and vocals, Adam Connor on bass and Mike Goodard on drums and vocals) have gained a massive following with their familiar anthems 'Picture Perfect', 'Wasted Out' and 'Dreams and Troubles', and their energetic live performances literally ooze rock n roll, and jolt you like a bolt of lightning!

SCARLET BOX'S perfect blend of solid songwriting, undeniable passion, and glam 'rock chick' appeal, has seen them performing country-wide with many of SA's top performing rock outfits, and also led to a cameo appearance in Footskating 101, with a performance of their single 'Everybody¹s God'. Jenna Lee¹s spine-chilling vocal abilities are flawlessly accompanied by Will Louw on Lead Guitar, Jitka Brzek on Bass, and Lucille Barry on drums. Scarlet Box enjoyed huge chart success with the singles 'Just Be' and 'Love-Hate', featured on their 2004 self-titled debut album, and have just released 'I Knew', the first single of their latest offering, "And the rest of us die out".
