WHILE the Sharks XV will be playing against Boland on Friday, March 26 at 7 pm in a Vodacom Cup match, a more pressing matter for local fans is the Maritzburg U20A team tackling Crusaders at Woodburn Stadium from 7 pm tonight.

Smarting from their big defeat to the formidable College Rovers U20As last time out, Maritzburg U20A go into this KZN U20A Division Frank Norris Cup match against a hurting Crusaders intent on banking five points.

“We need the support of the public tomorrow night,” said Maritzburg U20A coach Steve Botha yesterday.

“It is exciting for us having Jaco Potgieter back to come off the bench, and in this match it is important to earn five points, as Crusaders have come off two big losses.”

The team will play this match in memory of Midlands Rugby Academy assistant manager and PMB U20B coach Ralph Cawood, who died suddenly this week.

Meanwhile, the senior KZN club rugby season kicks off with the Ronnie van Rooyen Memorial Day at Harlequins on March 20.

The KZN First Division begins on March 26 and the long-awaited KZN Premier Division competition for the Moor Cup kicks off on April 10, with the new-look Maritzburg Varsity first XV taking on the strong Old Boys team from Riverside in Durban North at the Varsity Stadium at 3.30 pm.

More information on the Sharks XV versus Boland match at Woodburn will be made available in due course.
