Surfer injured in rampant waves

2013-08-20 00:00

AS wave heights hit a massive six to seven metres at Richards Bay yesterday afternoon, a surfer on the main beach there suffered serious injuries while in the water.

According to Netcare 911’s Chris Botha, the man was coming down a wave “when things went wrong and he sustained an injury to his lower limbs”.

Botha said that the Netcare 911 paramedics stabilised the injured man at the beach and then took him to hospital for treatment.

A forecaster at the SA Weather Office in Durban said waves on the South Coast and Durban reached a height of five metres.
