Suspects nabbed, cash gone

2011-11-09 00:00

THREE suspects were arrested in Port Shepstone on Monday afternoon after a liquor outlet in Shelly Beach was robbed earlier in the day.

The owner’s son was in his vehicle outside the store when a white Quantum minibus blocked his way.

Two armed men got out, one pointing a gun at him, and demanded cash. The victim had earlier collected cash from other outlets of the family business.

The robbers fled in the taxi with the cash.

After an investigation members of the police tactical response team arrested the driver in the taxi at the rank in Port Shepstone.

Two more suspects were arrested in the Port Shepstone area.

The stolen money and firearms used during the robbery were not recovered.

The men will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court this week.

Investigations are continuing. Police warned business owners to be careful when handling large sums of cash, particularly when depositing and collecting money.
