Sutcliffe for presidency?

2011-11-19 00:00

ETHEKWINI municipal manager Mike Sutcliffe is heading to the Presidency and a job in Trevor Manuel’s National Planning Commission, said at least three different sources at Durban’s City Hall.

Sutcliffe chaired the Municipal Demarcation Board.

eThekwini municipal spokesperson Thabo Mofokeng would not comment and said Sutcliffe had told them he was not yet ready to talk about what he planned to do.

Attempts were made to contact Sutcliffe, but his phone was on voicemail and he did not respond to SMSes sent to him.

Yesterday Manuel would not confirm or deny Sutcliffe’s appointment and asked for the query to be directed to his office. No response was received by the time of going to press.

Sutcliffe has a town planning and geography background and a PhD in geography from Ohio State University.
