This week the final piece of the massive arch which will hold up the roof of the new Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban was deftly dropped into place. It was an extraordinary technical achievement and, more importantly, a fine symbol of pride for the KwaZulu-Natal province. The stadium is well on track to be ready for South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 Soccer World Cup next year, an event of great international significance for millions of people around the world. Those responsible for the progress made so far are to be congratulated.
