TV black-out: SABC fails to warn viewers of switch-off

2009-07-08 00:00

ALL SABC television channels were cut off to viewers in Pietermaritzburg without warning yesterday.

The SABC offered no explanation as to why transmission had ceased.

Viewers feared it might be a consequence of the the strike by SABC staffers. Eventually, signal distributor Sentech revealed it was merely a planned maintenance operation that had caused the black-out.

Sentech said the SABC knew about the planned interruption, but failed to inform its viewers. — WR.
