Take two: catch Zim doccie

2010-07-27 00:00

THOSE who wished to see the award-winning documentary Mugabe and the White African, which was to be premiered at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) on Sunday, but was cancelled, have another chance to see it.

Spokesperson Glyn Hunter of Zimbabwe Democracy Now said Diff has organised two additional complimentary screenings. “It was most unfortunate as people had come from as far afield as Greytown, Wartburg, Eshowe, Karkloof and Pietermaritzburg, and Ben Freeth, the ‘co-star’ of the film, had flown down from Zimbabwe for the event.” After Ben Freeth and his father-in-law, Mike Campbell, took on the Zimbabwean government at the international court of the Southern African Development Community in Namibia, they became the target of unrelenting victimisation. The documentary tells their story.

There are two screenings this week:• Today at 6.30 pm – Royal Hotel, Prince Alfred Suite, Smith Street; and • Saturday at 4 pm — Musgrave Centre, Sterkinekor.
