IT’S fundraising time at Project Gateway and this year the organisation has decided to do a Christmas in July murder mystery. They will be hosting the dinner thriller, The Strange Case of Hester Cilliers, at Hexagon Dive at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg from July 22 to July 24 at 7 pm for 7.30 pm.

The show, which stars Paul Spence and Annie Robinson, is set on Christmas Eve, 1909, when sordid secrets and tales of intrigue lurk behind the apparent perfection of Johannesburg high society.

Michael Buchan finds himself the unexpected guest at a dinner in a Randlord’s mansion where a murder is committed. Buchan sets out to uncover the truth and which of his fellow guests — Lady Eva Hochenheim, Fleetwood Rawthorne, Grey Beaufort, Mr and Mrs Olivier and the Randlord himself, Henry Beaufort and his wife Julia — might have committed it.

Patrons are encouraged to get involved in solving this whodunnit and while they’re doing so they can enjoy a tasty meal.

The Strange Case of Hester Cilliers has played to sold-out houses wherever it has been performed over the past couple of years, from the Hilton Festival to the National Arts Festival. Tickets are R150, which includes a three-course meal. A cash bar will be available. To book phone 033 845 0400.
