Talented trio hopes to inspire others with fashion show

2014-09-12 00:00

THREE friends are determined to show off UKZN’s talent with a fashion and talent show on September 17.

Noluthando Ndlovu (21), Lindelwa Tshabalala (20) and Nonkululeko Ndlela (20) from Pinetown are in their second year of studying teaching at the Edgewood campus in Pinetown.

Ndlovu said the idea came after meeting Tshabalala in first year, when they became best friends. Both are aspiring poets, and looked for a platform to showcase their own as well as other students’ talent.

“There are so many of us that will perform at this show, including musicians, and models, all from the Edgewood campus.”

The event will showcase designers like Cosmic Black, Rangz and Silolo Boutique. “We will feature plus-size models, local musicians like Tru Vilakazi and Philani Gumede,” added Ndlovu.

Tshabalala said the inspiration behind the fashion show was the fact that they rarely see talent on show.

“We want others to be inspired by the idea and the show to be successful, out there and different, so students need to get involved,” she said.

Eight models will be featured in the fashion show, with make-up and hair being done by the trio.

“We have worked very hard with Movers Hair Salon to make this come together, studying during the day, then putting this together at night. It is going to be amazing,” said Tshabalala.
